Balanced Spine Balanced Life

Did you ever look at the anatomy of the spine and wonder how something so marvelous can be inside our bodies? Ok, maybe not. But since we work with the spine everyday, it's complexities can be awe inspiring.

The Perfectly-Aligned Spine

Think about what the spine's major functions are: protection for the precious spinal cord that is the origination point for every nerve in your entire body; a moving, twisting structure that allows you to stand upright, walk, run, bend and twist in almost any direction; and a shock absorber that can handle all the bouncing, jumping and falling that you do throughout your life.

It's pretty amazing. The trunk of our tree, if you will.

Uh-Oh

Now think about what happens if there is a slight imperfection in the alignment of just one of the 33 vertebrae in your spine. Even just a few millimeters can cause some swelling, pain, inflammation in the surrounding tissues, pinching of nerves and knotting up of attached muscles. And sometimes, the pain is more than a little, it's a lot and you can hardly stand up.

The Fix

Now think again about how great you would feel if all the vertebrae were kept in perfect alignment, with no pinching of nerves so that the nerves that are serving organs like your heart and lungs are in perfect working order, there's no pain or inflammation, and you can run and jump as much as you want. This is what we call balanced spine, balanced life. It's the difference between not hurting, which is ok, and feeling terrific, which is amazing.

We feel that this is the biggest benefit of chiropractic care. We love to relieve pain of course, but there's so much more to health than just not feeling pain. There's a quality of life that chiropractic care, along with a healthy diet, fresh air and exercise, provides that is so amazing we hope that all of you can achieve it. We'll do our best on the chiropractic part. You have to do the rest.
