  • What Does an Adjustment Do?
A chiropractic adjustment is a quick, specific force applied to a joint at a certain angle that is designed to release a joint back into its natural position. Any joint in the body can be adjusted, from shoulders to feet, but patients normally come to the chiropractor for neck and back pain. In 2019, in a study conducted on patients with low back pain, an MRI was performed after a chiropractic manipulation that showed that the patients in the group who received a chiropractic treatment had an increase in spacing between the spinal vertebrae after a treatment. They also reported a decrease in pain. This study showed how effective chiropractic treatment is at releasing spinal adhesions and opening up the spaces between vertebrae to allow for proper nerve flow. Another study showed an increase of 8-13 degrees of range of motion in a joint after an adjustment, along with local pain relief. These studies, along with studies on the effectiveness of chiropractic treatment for pain relief, are the evidence that chiropractic improves the health of the spine. As a pleasant side effect, chiropractic treatment also reduces pain! Removing restrictions to nerve flow is one of chiropractic's primary goals, because when the nerves that serve our internal organs and muscles are working properly, your whole body is healthier. Try chiropractic today! Same-day or next-day appointments are usually available. Call us at (918) 664-2273 or schedule online here. Read more

  • Improve Your Life With Proper Posture
So what is good posture? Good posture is the "neutral" position that the spine holds while standing, sitting, sleeping and walking. This position engages all the muscles that support the spine, putting equal pressure on them rather than extra pressure on only a few of them. Good posture keeps the vertebrae in line, promotes good circulation, and keeps pressure off the internal organs. Did you ever think about how sitting in a slumped position smashes your internal organs, interrupting digestion and breathing? Read more
  • Balanced Spine, Balanced Life
friends talk about it, and so do articles online, but life balance isn't easy. Work, health, family, household chores, friends....they all seem to fall into the high priority category. It is difficult to juggle them all and still feel balance. Your body also strives for balance. Do you remember learning, maybe way back in elementary school, about homeostasis? Homeostasis is defined as the state of steady internal physical and chemical conditions maintained by living systems. It is the condition of optimal functioning within the body. Our bodies have many homeostatic "regulators" which control things like body temperature, fluid balance, concentrations of electrolytes, blood sugar and so on, even in light of changing environmental factors. We don't have to eat the exact amount of sugar each day to create the perfect balance in our bodies, we have mechanisms to do that for us. And thank goodness we do, because there's no way we could keep track of all that ourselves, n Read more
  • A Tulsa Chiropractor Talks About What To Do After a Car Accident
Two years ago this month my wife and I were involved in a car accident. While it was quite an impact and totaled my cherished muscle car, we were very lucky to walk away with injuries that required chiropractic care and not hospitalization. Don't get me wrong, we were pretty banged up and it took a few months of treatment to get us back to normal, but we are both grateful that it wasn't much worse. Reflecting on the whole experience, I think I might have some useful information to offer anyone who has been involved in a similar incident. The first thing to do after the accident is to assess the injuries of everyone involved, including the people in the other vehicles. In our accident, the man who hit us was able to tell us he had a medical condition, which helped us know that we needed to call for emergency medical services. For emergency-ty Read more
